UDS Motorola UTA220K
ISDN UDS Motorola UTA220K terminal adapter
Telenetics UDS Motorola UTA220K is a high speed terminal adapter with an integral U interface designed to provide users simple access to the data transmission capabilities of the ISDN Basic Rate Interface. The UDS Motorola UTA220K allows you to connect up to four terminals, PCs or other data terminal equipment to the ISDN for data communications over a single Basic Rate Access line, using either circuit-switched or X.25 packet calls.
Features & Benefits | Specifications
The UDS Motorola UTA220K provides access to two 64-kbps B-channels for circuit switched or nailed up calls, and to a 16-kbps D-channel for transferring signaling information. The D-channel also provides access to D-channel packet service.
The UDS Motorola UTA220K allows you to connect two terminals, PCs or other data terminal equipment to the ISDN for data communications over a single Basic Rate Access line, using either circuit-switched or X.25 packet calls. The 2-port configuration supports synchronous or asynchronous data utilizing a variety of protocols.
Compatible with AT 5ESS, Northern Telecom DMS-100 central office switches and all National ISDN-1 switches and with multiple rate adaption protocols, the UDS Motorola UTA220K gives you the versatility you need to meet the requirements at many different sites.
The UDS Motorola UTA220K also supports economical new IDSL (or 2B1Q) services that provide 2 wire leased line digital transmission to 128Kbps.
The UDS Motorola UTA220K allows asynchronous data transfer at 300 bps to 115.2 kbps and synchronous data transfer from 1200 bps to 128 kbps. EIA-232, EIA-366 and CCITT V.35 interfaces are available to meet your connection requirements. With D-channel X.25 packet support, the UDS Motorola UTA220K processes asynchronous data using its internal PAD (CCITT X.3, X.28, X.29 compliant) for transmission with LAPD protocol on the D-channel.
Equipped with a convenient 32-character LCD front panel, the UDS Motorola UTA220K menu selections are made with three pushbuttons (YES, NO, HOME) in response to menu prompts. The standalone model has a full numeric keyboard which can be used to dial data calls directly and also simplifies menu selection entry. The rack-mount card has a three pushbutton and LCD panel only. The LCD menu can be used to configure any port, channel, session or global parameters. Other menu functions include display of status of any port or channel and make or end ISDN calls for any port.
The UDS Motorola UTA220K is available both as a standalone model and as a card that fits in the Universal Data Shelf.
Data Rates
300 to 115200 bps asynchronous; 1200 to 128000 bps synchronous -- Will accommodate a wide range of DTE devices.
Interfaces to ISDN Basic Rate Interface (2B+D)
Provides access to two 64-kbps B-channels for circuit switched calls and to a 16-kbps D-channel for transferring signaling information, or access to D-channel packet service. U interface does not require use of a separate NT1 unit. Also provides interface to IDSL (ISDN Digital Subscriber Line) 2B1Q service supporting 2wire leased line to 128Kbps without signaling.
2-Port Configuration
The 2-port model supports synchronous or asynchronous data.
Inverse Multiplexing (BONDING)
Combines B-channels for synchronous data rates of 56, 64, 112, or 128 kbps.
D-channel X.25 packet support
Provides access to a wide variety of packet switched networks.
Multiple Rate Adaption Protocols
CCITT V.120, TLINK, bonding Compatibility with non-ISDN digital services, such as Northern Telecom Datapath Service. Gives you the capability to operate at lower DTE speeds.
Multiple Signaling Protocol Compatibility
AT 5ESS CO switch, Northern Telecom DMS-100 CO switch. National ISDN-1 (NI-1). Support for both AT and NT switch types eliminates the need to stock separate units.
LCD Front Panel
Display plus six LEDs allows configuring the unit from the front panel. Also allows viewing current configuration and status without causing an interruption of data.
Full Numeric Keypad
Simplifies front panel configuration and dialing.
Flexible Dialing Capabilities
Accommodates a wide variety of DTE equipment.
AT Command Set Compatible
Compatible with a wide variety of asynchronous software packages.
V.25bis Dialing
Supports CCITT dialing protocols.
EIA-366 Dialing
Compatible with existing base of installed equipment, including video conferencing units.
Supervisory/Control Features
Allows easy access to options. Allows calls to be originated from any port.
Six Diagnostic Test Modes
Allow rapid isolation of communications faults. Minimize down time.
Download Feature
UTA 220DL uses FLASH ROM to allow easy product upgrades.
Test Features
When communications faults occur, the following UDS Motorola UTA220K integral test features help isolate the source of the failure: Self test, 2B+D loopback, Digital loopback, Local terminal loopback, Local loopback, and Terminal loopback.
Controls and Indicators
For simple configuration and operation, the UDS Motorola UTA220K can be completely programmed using the front panel keys and LCD.
